Comments on draft Data Empowerment and Protection Architecture

IFF has sent its comments pursuant to NITI Aayog’s draft Data Empowerment and Protection Architecture (DEPA) policy. The policy aims to introduce a new consent sharing mechanism that ostensibly aims to centre such mechanims on the agency of users.

In our comments, we highlighted the following issues:

  1. the need to ensure that truly informed consent is given;
  2. orienting new technology towards the interests of citizens;
  3. the implementation of a strong and robust regulatory framework ;
  4. expanding the role of civil society;

What other issues do you think we should have highlighted?
