After reading this article the first thing that came to my mind was the game “Watchdogs”. I might sound naive while comparing a video with real-life but I honestly don’t think there’s any difference between that game and us.

Selected few individuals who would be hired by the company would have the ultimate power to ruin the life of the people based on just psychometric profiling. The main fact they are forgetting is that psychometric profiling is not 100% accurate. One wrong psychometric analysis and the person would put behind the bars for eternity and that too for a crime which he did not commit.

This level of privacy intrusion is only suitable in a dystopian society and not in a democratic society that boasts itself as the biggest democratic country in the entire world.

If Uttar Pradesh carries out this program then that day should be considered as the black day for violating and mocking the fundamental rights and freedom of Indian citizens and even the judiciary system as the judiciary system of India has clearly stated that an individual is innocent until proven guilty.

Even if Uttar Pradesh manages to convince people, the main question which the government should answer is this:-

  • Under which IPC will you arrest the individual because no law has been created which allows the authorities to arrest a person who has not committed any crime.
  • What information will they be extracting because I am sure based on just porn browsing behavior it would be really hard to come up with a strong psychometric analysis?
  • Will those individuals be also monitored who visited Uttar Pradesh for a day or even half a day?
  • For how many days, months or years will they store private information about the person who they are monitoring?
  • Will the people have the privilege to file for an RTI so they get to know what information the government has on them?

I really hope United Nations Human Rights Council looks into this mockery.

P.S: To those who don’t know, Watchdogs is a game that was published by Ubisoft. The main plot of the game is that a private company sells technology to the government that monitors and spies on people and based on the behavior of the people it would alert the cops before any crime is committed.

The only difference between the game and us is that in the real world humans would be taking psychometric decisions based on just how one person browses porn instead of artificial intelligence.

To prevent tracking in general, make use of DNS over HTTPS(or DOQ, DOT, DNScrypt) etc.

Also, here’s links to some apps, tools and extensions that I personally find useful:
