Here's how to check if your phone has been infected with spyware

Following the revelations about NSO’s Pegasus spyware being used to target journalists, activists and politicians, all of us are worried about the safety and security of our own devices. While it is almost impossible to protect yourself against the zero-click attack of Pegasus, it is possible to check if your device has been infected through the help of this open source Mobile Verification Toolkit developed by Amnesty’s Security Lab. Amnesty is a part of the international consortium called the Pegasus Project which was responsible for bringing this story to light.

Mobile Verification Toolkit (MVT) is a collection of utilities to simplify and automate the process of gathering forensic traces helpful to identify a potential compromise of Android and iOS devices.

It has been developed and released by the Amnesty International Security Lab in July 2021 in the context of the Pegasus project along with a technical forensic methodology and forensic evidences.
