After getting nod from UIDAI, National Payments Corporation of India has approved 4 banks to test FRT for dispensing DBT to enable contact-less transfers. Would adopt if results are satisfactory.

Thanks for sharing this! Telangana has previously used facial recognition to identify pensioners with around 94% accuracy. Wonder what will be the accuracy rate for this DBT pilot, though I doubt it will be publicly reported.

This looks so scary! No, wonder we made facial recognition a 2020 priority and @Anushka has been actively working on it with through project-panoptic. A recent talk we organised for #PrivacySupreme was on the specific issue of why bans on facial recognition tech. for specific areas of deployment may not be excessive.
